James V. Fulmer
of 24 Fairview Avenue died Sunday September 21, 2003 shortly after arrival at JonesMemorialHospital in Wellsville. He was born January 16, 1926 in Wellsville, the son of Oliver and Helen (Harder) Tomlinson. On October 15, 1949 in Baltimore, MD he married Elaine Abercrombie, who survives. He was a 1944 graduate of WellsvilleHigh School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korean Conflict serving with the Seabees. Jim was a graduate of LycomingCollege and was formerly employed at Connons in Wellsville. He later was an agent and co-owner at the Brown & Stout Insurance Agency in Wellsville for over 40 years, retiring in 1988. He had served as the Allegany County March of Dimes Chairman for 18 years, was involved with Wellsville Midget League Football, was an umpire for the Wellsville Little League for over 40 years and was very active with the Wellsville Small Court Basketball program for over 50 years. During his retirement he delivered Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was a member of 1943 undefeated/untied Wellsville Football Team, Wellsville High School Hall of Fame, Allegany County Sports Hall of Fame and the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce, Person of the Year. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Wellsville, was an avid storyteller and was a friend to all. Surviving in addition to his wife Elaine are 4 children James (Marjorie) Fulmer of LeRoy, Janice (John) Shively of Boulder, Co., Lynn Fulmer of Cuba and John (Lisa) Fulmer of Rochester. Six grandchildren, Brian, Susan and Brendan Fulmer, Bret and Lane Shively and Jonathon Yioulos, as well as several cousins. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. 34 W. State Street in Wellsville. The funeral will be Wednesday September 24th at 11:00 am. in St. John’s Episcopal Church 200 N. Main Street in Wellsville, with Rev. Dawn Barrett presiding. Interment will be at WoodlawnCemetery in Wellsville and memorial suggestions include, in lieu of flowers, St. John’sChurch, 12 E. Leon M. Lowrie
of 4192 A Bolivar Road died Tuesday September 2,2003 in the WellsvilleManorCareCenter. He was born in Spring Mills ,NY. to William and Mary[Pepperman] Lowrie. Leon was a former resident of Angelica and Mt.Morris and enjoyed taking pictures.He is survived by 2 brothers: his twin Leroy[Gladys]Lowrie of Wellsville and Franklin Lowrie of Florida ; a sister Nina Biscaro of Depew as well as a nephew Dale Lowrie of Wellsville. Friends are invited to call on Thursday September 4 from 1 to 2pm in the J.W. Embser Sons F. H. in Wellsville. A funeral service will follow calling at 2pm in the Funeral Home with Rev. Anna Shirey. Leon will be buried in the WoodlawnCemetery and memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

, 87 formerly of Wellsville died September 6 in the Cuba Memorial Extended Care Unit. She was born on December 16,1915 in Hornell to Delbert and Mabel[Lowe]Hults. Gladys liked to bake and tend her house plants. Survivors include 2 brothers Royce Hults of Scio and Milton Hults of Youngstown,OH. : a sister Joyce[Wayne[Quick of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.Friends are invited to call on Wednesday September 10 from 1 to 2pm in the J.W.Embser Sons F.H. in Wellsville. A funeral service will take place at 2pm following the calling hour in the Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Kemp presiding. Burial will take place in ClineCemetery.

Dorothea M. Beckwith
of The Colony Park Apartments, died on Sunday September 21, 2003 at JonesMemorialHospital in Wellsville. She was born May 10, 1930 in the Town of Cuba, the daughter of Leslie and Mildred (Scott) Layman. On November 14, 1948 in Wellsville, she married Harrison J. Beckwith who predeceased her on July 15, 1995.
Dorothea was a former long time resident of Wellsville, had also lived in Angelica and Belmont before recently moving back to Wellsville. She was
a former employee of the Texas Hot, The Wellsville Manor Care Center, JonesMemorialHospital all of Wellsville and Acme Electric in Cuba. She was a member of the AngelicaBibleChurch and a former member of the
Birdsall Grange.She is survived by 3 Sons, Donald (Karen) Beckwith of Angelica, Ronald (Sharon) Beckwith and Michael (Patti) Beckwith both of Wellsville. 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 2 Brothers, Thomas
Layman of Belmont, Lyle (Shirley) Layman of Arizona, 2 sisters, Juanita (Gerald) Learn of Salamanca and Naomi (Dick) Fairchild of Rochester. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Beckwith. Friends are invited
to call on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Mark Chamberlain presiding.
Interment will be in the Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica and memorial suggestions include the Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross or the Jones Memorial Hospital Memorial Fund.
Dorothy H. Brocking, a former longtime resident of White Plains,New York and currently residing at 46 ½ Wheeler
Place,Wellsville, New York died on September 26,2003 at the age of 97 at the Highland Health Care Center in Wellsville.
Miss Brocking was born on December 28,1905 in White Plains , New York to August and Sophie Von Glahn Brocking. She cared for her mother for many
years and work in sales for Oppenheim Collins and Slaons Furniture. She also managed a hat store for a period of time. Miss Brocking was a life member of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in White Plains, a church of
which her father was a charter member. She taught Sunday School for 42 years and sang in the choir. Miss Brocking was predeceased by a brother, Harry Brocking and a sister, Marguerite[Stephen]
Dombrowsky. She is survived by a niece , Senta[Alpheus]Streeter of Wellsville, New York, a nephew Donald[Lila] Dombrowsky of St. Augustine, Florida, a nephew Bobby[Joy]Brocking and a niece, Ruth
Brocking; grand nieces and nephews- especially Donna[Alfred] Perecca and Stephen Dombrowsky all of Spring Valley, New York. Services will be held at St. Matthew’s LutheranChurch, 3 Carhart Ave., White Plains,New
York10605-1495 on Saturday October 4 at 11am .A visitation for family and friends will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at FerncliffCemetery in Hartsdale, New York.
