Beulah H. Broughton 77, of 321 Farnum Street died Saturday January 7, 2006 at JonesMemorialHospital in Wellsville. She was born August 17,
1928 in Wellsville the daughter of Herman and Hilda (Vossler) Sick. On July 4, 1953 in Wellsville she married Robert Broughton who survives. Beulah was a graduate of WellsvilleHigh School, was formerly employed at
Reuning’s Bakery in Wellsville and was a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company in Wellsville. She was also employed at One Hour Martinizing in Horseheads where she resided for 17 years prior to moving
back to Wellsville in 1977. With her husband she owned & operated the Wellsville Dry Cleaners from 1977 to their retirement in 1996. She was a former member of the TrinityLutheranChurch in Wellsville. She
enjoyed crocheting, baking, reading and shopping at yard sales. Surviving in addition to her husband Robert are 2 sons, Bruce (Anne) Broughton of Painted Post, William (Audrey) Broughton of Wellsville, 2
daughters, Bonnie (Richard) Ives of Wellsville, Barbara (Mark) Tolbert of Horseheads, 2 grandchildren, Rebecca (Craig) Player, Richard Ives, 1 great granddaughter, Hailey Player, 2 step grandchildren, 2 step great

Jakob” Jake” Mischenko
age 86 of 21 Lunn Court entered into peaceful rest early Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 2, 1919 in Putyvl’, Ukraine to Jichow and Horpina Mischenko. On May 20, 1941 in Dubrio, Poland he married Jennie Lyack who predeceased him in 1970. He was also married to Peggy Jackson who predeceased him in 1975. He immigrated to the United States with his family on May 30th,
1951 and initially resided in Hornell working as a mechanic. Jake then moved to Wellsville in 1952 and was known as the best tractor mechanic at Chevitte Brothers. He later worked as a layout man and welder at Air
Preheater till he retired in 1984. During his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, visits to the ocean and planting both christmas trees and potatoes at Kent Farms in Andover. He is survived by his son
Walter[Dianne] Mischenko of Placentia, CA. and his daughter Helen Taylor of Wellsville ; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents of

Stephen D. Duckett
age 57 of North Main Street passed away on Sunday January 15, 2006. He was born on May 7, 1948 to W. Paul and Ruby (Prince) Duckett. On March 6, 1982 in Salamanca he married Lisa Feinberg who survives.Stevespent his youth in Washington, North Carolina and graduated from SandHillsCollege; he later attended WakeForestUniversity. He was proud to have served in the US Navy and with the Naval Reserve. Steve worked for Otis Eastern for many years and at one time owned Better Days in Wellsville. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals. He was a tremendous father, husband and was a caring and loving person. His memberships include the Elks Lodge of Wellsville and the Laborers Local 1358 of Elmira.Surviving in addition to his wife, are his son, Raymond Evan Duckett at home; his parents; a sister Carlotta [Kenneth] Stone: 3 brothers Bill[Margie]Duckett, Jimmy[Ann]Duckett and David[Sue] Duckett all of North Carolina; his mother in law Doris Feinberg of Salamanca; brother in law Andy NamHee]Feinberg of Arizona and a uncle in law Raymond Evans of Beverly Hills, CA and several nieces & nephews. 75 of 2879 Robbins Court died on Sunday January 22, 2006 at the WellsvilleManorCareCenter. She was born March 25, 1930 in Olean, the daughter of Benjamin and Edith (Robertson) Perrin. On March 27, 1948 in Wellsville she married Earl C. Robbins who survives. Pat was 1947 graduate of WellsvilleHigh School and for many years she knitted baby caps for the newborns at JonesMemorialHospital. She was also a member of the pulmonary support group at Jones since 1994. Surviving in addition to her husband Earl, are 2 daughters, Denise (Michael) McKee of Girard, Ohio, Debra (Edward) Lancer of Hammondsport, a son, John E. Robbins of Fairport, a grandson, William (Karina) McKee and a beautiful great granddaughter, Megan Grace McKee of Columbia, Maryland, a sister, Ellen (Richard) Baker on Andover, a brother, Donald (Prudy) Perrin of Deland, FL, several nieces & nephews and special friends, Dean & Grace George and Jerry and Jan Woitas. Francelia Jennie McGraw, 81, of Alfred passed away Sunday, January 22, 2006 at
Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville after a valiant struggle with an illness. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Francelia was born October 5, 1924 in the town of Willing, the daughter of
Archie and Fannie (Clark) Foster. Francelia first attended a one room country schoolhouse in Willing, and then later graduated from WhitesvilleCentralHigh School in 1943. On June 30, 1945, she married Cobern E.
McGraw who predeceased her on July 21, 2004. They lived in Wellsville where Fran worked at Betty’s Beauty Salon as a cosmetologist until 1949. Fran and Cobern then moved to Alfred where they started their
family. While raising her children, she volunteered for many years as a 4H Leader and a Den Leader for the Cub Scouts. She also worked for the Home Bureau which is now the Cooperative Extension. She was
an expert seamstress and furniture upholsterer and loved crafts of all kinds. Francelia worked side by side with her husband in their beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, and generously shared the fruits of
their labors with others. Since 1978, she worked with her sister, Virginia, hand dipping chocolate candies at the Honey Pot in Alfred. Francelia is survived by her 5 children: Linda (Larry) Belanger of
Spartanburg, S.C.; Cobern Eugene (Maritza) McGraw of Stratford,Conn.; Roger (Sandra) McGraw of Alfred; Larry McGraw of Alfred, and Connie McGraw of Hornell, 3 sisters, Virginia Bassett of Alfred; Dortha
Harris of Whitesville; and Loie O’Dell of Bradford, Pa, 1 brother Eugene (Shirley) Foster of Whitesville. Fran is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Craig and Sean Belanger, Aaron, Andrew, Summer, Joshua,
Connor and Lauren McGraw, 7 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Mia and Seth McGraw, Taylor Belanger, Brooke Bowman, James Taylor and Madison Belanger and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased in addition to her

Richard J.”Dick” Munkes age 82 of 110 Pine Street passed away on Wednesday January 25, 2006 at home after a long illness. He was
born on March 5, 1923 in Wellsville to Henry J. and Norine Griffith Munkes and on November 2 , 1946 in Wellsville he married Reta Nottingham who predeceased him on November 28, 1997. Dick was a life long
resident of Wellsville and graduated from WellsvilleHigh School in 1941. He joined the US Navy because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and served until 1945 on the USS Eurayle in the South Pacific. He was very proud
to have served in the navy during WWII. While in High School he worked for the former Scoville Browns. After the service he was a policeman for the Village of Wellsville, worked for Rauber’s Furniture and in 1950
he joined Air Preheater from where he retired in 1983. Dick was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, American Legion post 702 and was a life member of the Duke Hose Company all of Wellsville. In his younger
days he enjoyed hunting and fishing and later, enjoyed traveling the country and attending USS Eurayle Association reunions. Survivors include a son David[Rose Mary]Munkes of Wellsville ; 2 grandchildren Sophia
Marie and Brian Richard Munkes of Wellsville ; 2 step grand sons CPO Kurt Hoyer of Virginia Beach, VA., and Michael Hoyer of Jacksonville, FL. ; a special long time friend Eleanor Howe of Wellsville.He was

Waneta M.”Toby” Hardy 83 of 5616 State Route 417 passed away on Saturday January 28, 2006 in her home
with her family. She was born on November 18, 1922 in Alma to George and Florence Terrette Quick. On March 1, 1946 in Alma she married Ralph Hardy who predeceased her on November 8, 1974. Waneta was a life
long resident of Alma and has lived in the same home since 1946. She attended AlmaHillSchool later WellsvilleHigh School and was a housekeeper for several area families. Waneta was a member of the
AlmaUnitedMethodistChurch and the Scio Sunshine Club. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially Saturday nights, and was known as” Gramma Toby”to all who knew her. Survivors include: 2 daughters,
Marge[Bruce]Chandler of Scio and Aleta[Virgil]Tenney of Lafayette, LA. ; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren ; a brother Julius[Joan]Quick of Statesville, NC., 3 sisters, Marguerite Cornelius of Alma,

Saturday January 28, 2006 in the Chesapeake Health Center in Chesapeake, VA. He was born on March 13, 1929 at home in Stannards to Ary and Flossie Bell Cornish Perkins. Donald spent his early years in Shinglehouse,
PA. and lived most of adult years in Scio and Wellsville. He was employed for 34 years at the Air Preheater Company in Wellsville. He enjoyed hunting , fishing and had sang in the Wellsville Lions Club
Minstrel Show. Survivors include: His former wife Leola Perkins of Scio; 2 daughters Dee Hasard of Browns Mills, NJ., Carol[Chief Petty Office Kurt E.] Hoyer of Virginia Beach, VA. and a son Rodney[Susan]Perkins of

Dorothy Marie Johnston Tracy, 95 of 160 Seneca Street died on Wednesday February 15, 2006 at the
WellsvilleHighlandHealthcareCenter. She was born February 22, 1910 in DuBois,PA, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Garrity) Bolam. On February 2, 1928 in DuBois she married Marvin Johnston who
predeceased her on August 11, 1960. On July 10, 1974 she married Charles Tracy who predeceased her on July 22, 1997. A long time Wellsville resident Marie spent her retirement years in FortCharlotte, Fl.
She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School in DuBois and was an employee of Moore Turbine in Wellsville during WW II. She was a caterer
for many years and her service ranged from running the concession stand at Tullar Field to organizing dinners in private homes to being one of the
original owners of Johnston’s Hilltop in Richburg. She was avid and talented maker of crafts, quilts and ceramics, hobbies she passionately enjoyed. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a
former member of the Women of the Moose. She is survived by 4 sons; Howard Johnston of Spring, TX, Robert (Ruth) Johnston of Laurel, MD, Clifford (Gloria) Johnston of Bolivar, William (Margaret) Johnston of Cuba
Lake, 2 daughters; Dorothy Johnston of Buffalo, Judy (Robert) Gray Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, 13 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, 1 brother; Joseph Bolam Jr. of Tuckerton, NJ

Norma Mae Main, 93 of 88 Williams Avenue passed away on Saturday February 18, 2006 at the WellsvilleHighlandHealthcareCenter. She has
resided in Wellsville since 1934. She was born December 14, 1912 in Crystal, PA, the daughter of Freeman O. and Lenora (Hardy) Canfield. Norma was the eldest living descendant of her great grandfather Asa
Canfield, whom with his brother Caleb, were amongst some of the earliest settlers of McKean County, PA. She attended schools in Crystal and Shinglehouse, PA and high Schools in Friendship and Richburg, NY
while residing with her brothers in Nile after her mother’s death in 1924. Her lifelong affection for children is fondly remembered and was a
reflection of her care and devotion in helping raise many of her 16 nieces and nephews as a young teen. On November 21, 1932 in Richburg, she
married Melvin Holley Main who predeceased her on February 14, 1986. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly J. Willard in 2001, grandsons, Robert and Kevin Thomas in 1974 and
great-grandson, Kevin Thompson 2001. Deceased siblings are sisters, Ruth Canfield in 1904, Hyla Blessing in 1988, Charlotte Johnson in 1992 and Canfield brothers, F. Neil in 1931, Glenn D. 1974 and Sherman O. in

attended the ChristianMissionaryAllianceChurch in Wellsville. She loved spending time with her family and with her faithful companion “Jodi”. Pauline will be remembered for her sense of humor and that she never

R. Wayne Elliott of 143 East Genesee Street passed away on Friday
February 24 at home with his family. He was born in Shinglehouse, PA to Reuben and Doris Yeager Elliott on Aug. 21, 1929. In Hempstead Long Island on August 15, 1951 he married Lois Hennessy who survives.
Wayne was a former resident of RochesterNY. And Port Allegany, PA., moving to Wellsville in 1982. He graduated from BolivarHigh School and attended St. Bonaventure University. Wayne enlisted in the US Air Force
and severed for 4 years obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and was an instructor in mathematics. He was raised in a family of small business owners. Wayne’s parents owned the Bolivar Lunch Room and he later
became the Arch Way Cookie Distributor in Geneva, and then moved to Port Allegany, PA. and opened Elliott’s Bakery and Restaurant. Wayne then moved to Rochester and was a Supervisor for the food service at
Xerox. In 1982 he moved to Wellsville to help start the Baking Curriculum in the Culinary Arts Department at the Wellsville Campus of AlfredState. He was an Associate Professor and in 1987 was honored as
Educator of the year. During that time he was helping his son David at Elliott’s Bakery in Wellsville and became a Trustee and Compliance Office of the American Legion Post 702 in Wellsville. Wayne enjoyed the
outdoors and in his retirement liked to raise pheasants. His memberships include, Life member of the Star Hose Company in Port Allegany, PA., former member of the Port Allegany Planning Commission, American
Legion Post 702 of Wellsville and the Wellsville Moose Lodge. Surviving besides his wife are ; a daughter Susan[Albert]Meyer of Painesville, OH. ; 4 sons, David[Kathy] Elliott of Hyde Park, Mark[Linda]Elliott of
Wellsville, Jon[Cheryl]Elliott of Scio and Greg[Lori]Elliott of Wellsville. 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren ; a sister Joan”Dawn”Elliott of

Edwin W. Gardner Sr. of the Murphy Mulvey Road passed away at home
on Sunday February 26, 2006. He was born on December 31, 1925 in Wellsville to Harry and Lulu Koller Gardner. On October 18, 1975 he married Margariet Lanterman who survives. Ed worked for the former
Scoville and Brown Merchants in Wellsville and then joined the US Army and served during WWII. After the service he worked for Macler Industry in Friendship from where he retired from after over 30 years of service.
Ed served as the Union Stewart for many years, was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling on senior citizen trips. He was a member of the American Legion Post #702 of Wellsville. Surviving besides his wife: A
son Edwin W. Gardner Jr. of Georgia ; 3 daughters Janet[Richard]Terwilliger of Jeffersonville, Donna Peeples of Cumming, GA. And Debbie[Robert]Vennard of Caneadea ; 4 stepsons,

23, 2006 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. He was born on June 23, 1912 in Wellsville to John B. and Orpha Barton Dunham. John was a life long resident of Wellsville. He graduated from WellsvilleHigh School in
1931 and attended AlfredUniversity. John served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a Technical Sergeant with the 499th Bomb Squadron in Saipan. He held the position of Cryptologist which he also
taught. John was awarded the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Before entering the service he was employed by the Sinclair Refinery and
by the Pink House as caretaker and gardener. After his discharge he was employed as a caretaker and gardener for several families in Wellsville.
John retired at the age of 75 and enjoyed gardening, reading, keeping up with current events and was a history buff and will be most remembered
for his profound knowledge of local history. John is survived by 7 great nieces and nephews, Dennis Dunham, Cort Dunham, Scott Dunham, Diane Jeffers, Jeanette Inzana, Rickie Dunham and Leona Pensyl ; close

lasting nearly 60 years. Tunney was raised in Hallsport and moved to Shinglehouse, PA in 1938. He graduated from high school in 1942 and then joined the U.S. Army. He served during WW II with the 513th
Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 17th Airborne Division. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge outside of Bastogne, where he lost many friends
and fellow soldiers. He was employed at C. E. Air Preheater Company in Wellsville for 42 years, retiring in 1985. He coached youth baseball, football and basketball in the Wellsville area. He loved to hunt; fish and
most of all watch his children play sports over the past 6 decades. He was also a member of the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion in Wellsville. Surviving in addition to his wife Marilyn are 4 sons, Danny

Constance Hodges in 1944 in Wellsville who predeceased him on December 9, 1996. Louie was a life long resident of Wellsville and long time businessman in shoe repair and concessions. At the age of 12 he
started working for his Uncle Patsey Congelli in the shoe repair business and later owned his own repair shop. He became involved with concessions through Leon Paulman and became a fixture and many local
fairs including over 30 years at the Andover Maple Festival. Louie had planned on attending the Festival this year so in his honor his concession
stand will be opened. He was active in the Wellsville Lions Club for 49 years where he was a past president, worked on the minstrel show sets
and will be remembered as walk on in the skit “Whistling Midgets”. His memberships include the Immaculate Conception Church, Life member of the Elks, member of the Moose and Life member of the Wellsville Lions

eventually became the Advertising Manager for the company. He was a former member of the Wellsville Lions Club where he was involved in set designing for the Minstrel Show. He learned woodworking at AlfredState
CollegeVocational School and enjoyed woodworking, home remodeling and family camping. Recent interests included photography and audio video recording. Surviving in addition to his wife Margaret are 3 children,

and was a long time resident of Angelica prior to moving Belmont in 2003. She and her husband owned and operated the family farm in Angelica for 43 years. She loved to sew and bake and will be especially
remembered for her home baked rolls. She also enjoyed and was active in gardening up to and including the day she died. She was a member of

Edward W. Thomas, 82, of old State Road, Belmont, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 in the BathVeteransHospital. He was born on January 12, 1924 to John and Winifred Hughes Thomas. On December 20,
1947 in Freedom he married Helen Deats who survives. He retired from the former Hetzel Motors of Wellsville with over 30 years of service. Prior
to his employment with Hetzel’s he worked for Phillippi’s in Fillmore. Ed was a charter member of the Short Tract Volunteer Fire Department. He
was a veteran of WWII serving in the Philippines with the US Army Air Corps as a mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion in Fillmore and in 1955 he was the Allegany County Commander while a
member of the former Short Tract American Legion Post 1770. In addition to his wife he is survived by his four children: 2 sons Dale[Susan]Thomas
of Belmont and Robert[Susie]”Fuzzy” Thomas of Campbell ; 2 daughters, Terry[Duane]Gelser of Dalton and Suzanne Thomas of Belmont ; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren ; a sister Gladys[John]Dildine of
Arcade ; a sister in law, Mrs. .John[Florence]Thomas of Centerville as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a Brother John Thomas Jr. Family and friends will be received in the

of William and Margaret (Griffin) Wiles. On November 12, 1941 in Scio she married Paul F. Culbert who predeceased her on June 12, 1985. Mary assisted her husband with the family business the Paul F. Culbert and
Sons Farm Implement Company, was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, the Father Brown Mission Club and the Genesee Valley Grange # 1109. She was a loving mother and grandmother who
enjoyed her dog “Bear”, gardening, and the family farm in Scio. She is survived by 2 daughters, Margaret Ann Smith of Erie, PA and Kathleen Mary (Kim) Morrison of Lake Worth, FL, 4 sons, Richard Culbert, John

Ernest F.”Ernie” Mitchell age 77 passed away on Thursday May 4, 2006 at JonesMemorialHospital. He was born on August 13, 1928 in Alburg, Vermont to Edward J. and Luvia Mitchell and on August 1, 1953 in
Rochester he married Nina DiTondo who survives. Ernie was a former resident of Rochester who moved to the Wellsville area in 1982. He attended school in Alburg, Vermont and served with the U.S. Army
Engineers 587 Field Maintenance in Germany during the Korean War. He retired from General Motors after 29 and a half years as a machine operator. Ernie was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W, and the
Moose of all of Wellsville. He loved the outdoors, nature, bowling and hunting. Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters, Luanne(Henry)DeCaire of Rochester and Filomena(Brad)Amedeo of
Rochester ; a son Edward Mitchell of Aurora, NE. ; 3 grandchildren, Alexis and Lauren Amedeo and Cassandra Mitchell ; a sister Joyce(Tom)Mason of Holley and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his

daughter of Dr. Norbert W. and Frances M. (Leney) Kuch. On October 23, 1948 in Rochester she married Edward Schiavi who predeceased her on August 21, 1966. Dottie was a 1945 graduate of WaylandHigh School and
attended NazarethCollege. While living in Wellsville, she was associated with the family businesses, Wellsville House of Glass and Palmer Aeromotive. She was a former member of the Immaculate Conception
Church and the Wellsville Country Club. She moved to Florida in 1973 and was employed by the OrangeCountyAdministrativeBuilding and Code Department. She also was the accountant for her daughter Marie’s
business and a supporter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. She is survived by 1 son, William Schiavi of Raleigh, NC, 4 daughters, Chick (Mark) Casagrande of Wellsville, Marie Schiavi of Winter Park, FL, Julia

March 4, 1934 in the Town of Willing to Richard and Mildred Latten Cornelius. On June 20, 1964 in Wellsville he married Ruth Sherman who survives. Edward was a life long resident of this area. He had worked for
several companies and had retired from the Worthington Corporation in 1984. He was a life member of both the Alma and Whitesville Rod and Gun Clubs and a member of the NRA. He loved the outdoors including

Henry Gabriel of Greenwood, New York, 89, died Saturday, August 12,
2006 at the WellsvilleManorCareCenter. He was born on September 17th, 1916 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Frank and Theresa Marie
(Celenza) Gabriel. On March 23, 1948 he married Rosa B. Steele of Iaeger,West Virginia, who survives.Henry attended various seamanship schools and graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in New London,
Connecticut and received a commission in the Merchant Marines. He received a federal license as a marine engineer in steam and diesel engines. He was in the maritime service years before World War II and
throughout the war and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. Henry resigned his commission in 1946 and then moved to Iaeger, West
Virginia where he owned and operated Peoples Drug Store with his wife, Rosa, for many years. Afterwards, the family moved to Brooklyn for 3 years where Henry was in real estate. In 1953, they moved to
Greenwood, New York and started the BelleRoseMotel before moving to Wellsville, New York in 1959 where he owned and operated the Wellsville Motel for more than twenty years, retiring in August 1979.Henry was a
retired member of the Marine Engineers Benevolent Association and a former member of the Iaeger, W.Va. and Wellsville, N.Y. Rotary Clubs.
He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He sponsored the Henry and Rosa Gabriel Scholarships for local schools including Wellsville
Central High, GreenwoodHigh School, and Alfred State College. He was predeceased by four brothers, Dr. Peter Gabriel, Nicholas Gabriel, Dr.
Daniel Gabriel, and Michael Gabriel. Surviving besides his wife are five children, Robert Gabriel of Newark, New York, Theresa (Makis)
