Donald A. Brown formerly of 165 Madison Avenue, Wellsville passed away on Monday March 8, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born December 6,1920 in Rexville to Albert C. and Catherine Brown. On December 6,1941 in Stannards he married the former Bertha Mae Doty who survives him.
In his youth he began his working career as a farm hand and later as a family man he became a tenant farmer. Later he worked for Bradley Producing for 23 years in Wellsville and in Glencoe,Ontario Canada where he supervised the Bradley’s oil lease for 9 years. In 1967 he returned to Wellsville and left Bradley’s to learn the trade of Welding and worked for Turbodine until his retirement in 1982. Don was an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling to Canada. He took great pride in his home and his lawn and gardens were admired by all. Don always said dairy farming was his favorite.
He is loving remembered by his loving wife of 62 years ; 2 daughters Sherry Ann Haggith of Glencoe Ontario, Canada , Jo Ann Brown of London, Ontario, Canada ; a son Kenneth{Shirley}Brown of Hilton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren ; 2 brothers Clifford Brown of Petrolia and Albert”Junior”[Fran]Brown of Warren,PA.; a sister Lillian Carlin of Wellsville ; several nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by a sister Bertha C. Stephens.
Friends are invited to call tonight Tuesday March 9 from 7-9pm and on Wednesday from 10am -11am in the J.W.Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday after calling at 11am in the funeral home with Rev. Clifford Brown Jr. presiding. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association of Western New York 1284 French Road Depew,NY. 14043
