Dorothea M. Beckwith of The Colony Park Apartments, died on Sunday September 21, 2003 at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. She was born May 10, 1930 in the Town of Cuba, the daughter of Leslie and Mildred (Scott) Layman. On November 14, 1948 in Wellsville, she married Harrison J. Beckwith who predeceased her on July 15, 1995.

Dorothea was a former long time resident of Wellsville, had also lived in Angelica and Belmont before recently moving back to Wellsville. She was a former employee of the Texas Hot, The Wellsville Manor Care Center, Jones Memorial Hospital all of Wellsville and Acme Electric in Cuba. She was a member of the Angelica Bible Church and a former member of the Birdsall Grange.

She is survived by 3 Sons, Donald (Karen) Beckwith of Angelica, Ronald (Sharon) Beckwith and Michael (Patti) Beckwith both of Wellsville. 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 2 Brothers, Thomas Layman of Belmont, Lyle (Shirley) Layman of Arizona, 2 sisters, Juanita (Gerald) Learn of Salamanca and Naomi (Dick) Fairchild of Rochester. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Beckwith.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Wednesday September 24^th at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Mark Chamberlain presiding. Interment will be in the Until The Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica and memorial suggestions include the Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross or the Jones Memorial Hospital Memorial Fund.
