Wellsville, NY

HELEN SCHEN, 80 of Hallsport Road passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.  She was born on November 14, 1923 in Holland, NY the daughter of Vincent and Katherine Pawlak.  On July 19, 1947 in Olean she married Harold Schen who survives.                               

She graduated from the first cadet nursing program at Alfred University during World War II.  She was an RN and retired from Jones Memorial Hospital after 27 years of service.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 sons: David Schen of Mt. Layton, VT, Michael Schen of North Potomac, MD; 2 daughters: Judith (Daniel) Flanagan of Provo, UT, Julie (James) Gish of Vancouver, WA; 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. 

Helen was predeceased by her stepbrothers and sisters. 

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville.  Memorial suggestions include the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and Jones Memorial Hospital.
