Richard C. Ball of 289 East Dyke Street passed away Monday January 26, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born April 7,1922 in Portville to Ruthven and Ethel Coast Ball. In August of 1946 he married  The former Patricia Temple who survives him.

Dick was a member of the St. Josephs Church in Scio. He was a 37 year employee of  Air Preheater and owned and operated the Harley Davidson motor cycle shop in Wellsville for 11 years. After his retirement  he worked for the Office For the Aging in Belmont.

Dick served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945. He had participated in the Battle of the Bulge, earned 7 major battle stars and was awarded a bronze star for outstanding bravery.

Surviving beside his wife : 3 sons R. Michael Ball of Placerville, CA. , Thomas C. Ball of Fairbanks, AK. And Stephen T. Ball of Scio ; 2 daughters Barbara E. Teter of Elma and Teresa  Anne Vida of Gardnersville,NV. 8 grandchildren; He was predeceased by a brother Donald J. Ball.

There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday January 30 at 11am in St. Josephs Church in Scio with Rev. Dennis Mancuso Celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Andover. Memorials may be made to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps or to The Office For the Aging in Belmont. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home.
