STELLA D. SCHWALB 92, of 151 ˝ Early Street passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004 after a short illness at the home of her granddaughter, Lee Poole.  She was born on June 3, 1911 in Salamanca, the daughter of Alexander and Katherine Sipko.  On August 16, 1937 she married Leonard “Bud” Schwalb, who predeceased her on December 29, 1986.   

Stella was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and an active member of the Allegany County Catholic Women’s Association.  She was also a Life Member of the Jones Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and an active 52 year honor member of the Holly Twig. 

Stella is survived by 1 son: David (Karen) Schwalb, 2 granddaughters: Lee (Bryan) Poole and Shannon Schwalb, 2 grandsons: Stephen and Andrew Schwalb, 3 great grandchildren: Melissa, Kelsey, and Meredith Poole, and 1 daughter in law: Ora Mae Schwalb, all of Dallas, Texas.  Also surviving is 1 brother: Stanley (Ann) Sipko of Salamanca, 1 sister: Helen Ledden of Roanoke, Virginia, special friends Roxanne, Jim, and Daniel Rice of Wellsville, and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by 2 brothers: Bernard and her twin John Sipko, and 1 sister: Josephine Oelkrue. 

Stella will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.   

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the J.W.Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville  where a Rosary will be said  at 8:30pm . A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30am  in the Funeral Home followed by A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am  in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville with Rev. Dennis Wolfe as celebrant.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville.  Memorial suggestions include Immaculate Conception Church, Jones Memorial Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
